Auditions at Ann Arbor Civic are open. Anyone from Ann Arbor or the surrounding area may audition for shows.  No pre-casting is allowed, and no one may become part of a show at A2CT without auditioning.

Main Stage Series

Production dates: Sept. 13-16, 2012
Audition dates: Sunday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 20 at 7pm, with callbacks as needed at 7pm on Thursday, June 21st.
Audition location: A2CT Studio, 322 W. Ann St, A2 MI, 48104
Audition information:
There are featured roles for nine women and five men ages 18-70, plus an ensemble. Those auditioning need attend only one of the regular auditions but should be available for callbacks. All should be prepared to dance, and should prepare and bring sheet music for 16 bars of a Broadway-style song.
A complimentary pre-audition tap dance workshop will take place at Swing City Dance Studio, 1960 S. Industrial Suites E & F on Monday, June 11 at 7pm.  Pre-registration is required via email: auditions@a2ct.org. Please indicate skill level in the pre-registration email:  absolute beginner, brushing up old tap dance skills, or fine-tuning strong skills.  A selection of tap shoes is available at the studio for individuals who do not have their own.

The Play's the Thing

Audition dates: Friday, May 11, at 7:30pm and Saturday, May 12, at 4:00pm.

Audition information:
The Play’s the Thing is an opportunity for playwrights to have their works read, discussed, and reworked.  It’s an opportunity for the audience to hear new works and to give feedback to the playwrights.  Each performance features a different type of play:  a series of 10-minute plays; one-act plays; and a full-length play.
Auditions consist of cold readings from the script and an optional monologue (comedy or drama) of up to one minute in length. No pre-registration is required. Each performance will have one rehearsal in May. Those auditioning need attend only one of the audition sessions. Those auditioning may audition for one, two, or all three performances.

"Show Me Your Shorts" How To Kill Yourself... by Ron Riekki, Corker by Sophia Blumenthal, Wasted Words by Matt Martello, Undiscovered Country by Connie Bennett, Assigned Blessing by Connie Bennett, Abe & Vinnie by Janet Pound Casting 5 actors to play multiple characters.  One younger woman, vixen/ingenue/automaton.  One older woman, frustrated/arch/passionate.  One younger man, free-spirit/bumbler/spoiled.  One older man bumbler/poignant.  One actor of either gender, 20-40s, for tragic/vaudeville.
"One is the Loneliest Number" One Act Plays - Transactions by Madalena Forte and Robot Love Affair by Eric Bloch and Amy Milligan Casting 6 actors for multiple roles, 3 women and 3 men, mid-20s to mid-40s.
"I Can't Believe I Read the Whole Thing" Rapunzel and Rumpelstiltskin by Stacey Lane Casting 6 actors, 3 men 20s-40s for a prince, troll and sprite, and 2 women, for Rapunzel and her mother, and 1 man or woman for narrator.

audition dates: Auditions are Monday, March 12 from 5-6:30pm and Wednesday, March 14 from 4:30-6pm..
audition location: Ann Arbor Civic Theatre Studio, 322 West Ann Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104, (734) 971-0605
audition information:Those auditioning need attend only one of the two audition sessions.  No preparation or pre-registration is required. There are roles for up to 25 young actors in GRADES 4-12.  Auditions consist of cold readings from the script and theater games. Rehearsals for The Phantom Tollbooth will be Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-6:30pm (4-6pm April 11 and May 9) and Saturdays, April 7th and 21st and May 5th and 12th from 12-4pm.
